NOTE: North Carolina is transitioning to electronic filing with eCourts and this will be the only accepted way to file.  For those without computers or sufficient internet access or who are not computer savvy will at best likely experience a more difficult time doing their own divorce or at worst simply won’t be able to do it on their own.  For information on which NC counties are currently eCourts or for more information you can go yo the eCourts page of The North Carolina Judicial Branch website.

Our DIY Divorce Forms are pre-filled and personalized with your information.  No confusing blanks to fill in like with the free forms packs you can get from some Courts or online.  You just review, sign and submit.  We also provide clear detailed instructions on what to do with your forms and when to do it and if you have questions – we provide free phone and e-mail support.

IS DOING YOUR OWN DIVORCE RIGHT FOR YOU?

Doing your own divorce is a great way to save money but ONLY IF you are indigent (low or no income) AND eligible to get Court costs waived.  If so, you will save at least $225 using our personalized Sign & Submit™ divorce forms and likely have a much better chance of successfully completing your divorce yourself.  That said, if you can swing the $395 to just have us do everything for you – that is by far the best option.

If you are not eligible to have Court cost waived and have to pay the $225 in Court cost, you will likely not save any money doing your own divorce and may end up spending more than the $395 to have us do everything for you.

Please Note: We will provide FREE support while you go through the divorce process but obviously because these forms can simply be photocopied, once we have drafted your forms – THERE ARE NO REFUNDS.  However, if you later decide you’d rather have us handle your divorce, you can just pay the $300 difference.

Please Note: A Standard Uncontested Divorce is $395 and can be completed in 45 to 60 days. We can complete it quicker in 30 to 45 days if your spouse is willing to cooperate with you. There is an additional fee $100 for a total of $495 for the Expedited Service. Doing your own divorce is not recommended but you may be able to save some money IF you are also eligible to have Court cost waived.

You can choose to go back to the name you were born with. This is most commonly known as your 'Maiden or Birth Name'. Or you may choose to resume a former married name IF you also have minor children from that former marriage or the former spouse is deceased. You can not change your name to anything other than your Maiden or Birth Name or a Former Married Name in a divorce action. If you want to change your name to something else, you will need to go through the formal name change process with your local county clerk of courts office.

If you do not know your spouse's address, you can still get divorced but it may require doing a legal publication in a major newspaper where your spouse was last know to live. The cost for a legal publication varies, so if you need to serve your spouse by this method we will need to get a quote for you. This cost is not included in the $395 fee. We recommend doing everything you can to locate a good address for your spouse because it is by far much less expensive to serve your spouse by certified mail or by sheriff.
